In lessons, students go through a thorough vocal warm up, breath exercises, and dive into a song of their choice. I offer students feedback on what has improved, and we practice the tricky parts so they can continue to improve on their own between lessons. Students provide their own songs or music of choice.
All musical pieces and techniques taught will be age-appropriate to preserve vocal health and prevent vocal injury. For this reason, the minimum age is 10 years old. Lessons take place on Mondays at Diamondhead Education Center in Meeting Room 2 in the Burnsville Senior Center. $320 for 8 30-minute individual lessons.

"Singing is a gift of self-expression, self-awareness, exploration, and fun! I have been studying music for more than twenty years with thirteen years of formal classical voice training in opera, lieder, and musical theatre. As a teacher, I strive to help students connect with their breath, approach music with curiosity, and build a foundation of vocal technique to prevent injury so we can all be singing well into our eighties! Beyond skills of expression, music reading, diction (in various languages), resonance, and pitch, I want students to walk away with greater grace for themselves, greater joy in challenges, and greater gratitude for our personal instruments. The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing students grow, enjoy the process, and getting to support them along the way." - Instructor Varinia Nelson
