Rosemaling evolved in the various districts of Norway from 1750 - 1850. Hallingdal produced the second largest number of painters. In this class, we will focus on design in Rosemaling using Hallingdal work from the Vesterhiem collection. The first week, students will select one or more pieces and start a design and for those who are beginning, the focus will be on how to adjust an existing design for a differently shaped item. All skill levels are welcome, but you will find it beneficial if you have taken the Rosemaling: Brush Techniques class or other painting class where you learned basic brush strokes. Skilled painters can work on their own design in any Rosemaling style with assistance from the instructor as needed. Class is virtual, so you can paint with acrylic or oil paint
