Join a naturalist from EcoElsa to learn about ethnobotany, the study of  plants and their practical uses through the traditional knowledge of a local culture and people.
Kids benefit from this cross-curricular study of biology, science, and history to respectfully learn about and from different cultures. We will be covering mostly Indigenous Nations and Europeans while touching on other groups; and how they have used plants for food, medicine, building materials, and for cultural activities throughout history. Engage in a wide variety of activities and creative projects to take them home. Make sure to dress for the weather and wear closed toed shoes and long pants.
Bring to Class:

Bring a snack and a water bottle each day, labeled with your child's name.  
Participants are required to self-check temperatures and attest to this health check prior to each class, session, activity. Any person who has not taken their temperature will be asked to leave the facility.  

Participants will be required to abstain from entering the facility if their temp check is 100° or above or if any member of their household has had any COVID-19 symptoms as defined by the MN Department of Health within the last 72 hours

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • A fever (100.0 or higher) within the last 72 hours
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of  smell or taste 
  • Diarrhea in the past 24 hours
  • Vomiting in the past 24 hours

Upon arriving in the facility, all persons will be asked to wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer when hand washing stations are not available. Wash or sanitize hand frequently and prior to leaving the activity.
Bring a water bottle marked with your child's name each day. Water fountains may not be available. 

1 guardian per registered child/ren will be allowed at class drop off and pick up. No friends or siblings permitted. 
Guardians must leave the building as soon as check in is completed.
Avoid congregating at drop off and pick up times.
